October 3 2022

The Andrews Labor Government is delivering more opportunities to get out and explore Victoria, with construction beginning on the next phase of the Forrest Mountain Bike Revitalisation Project.

Works on the Forrest Southern Trailhead and Skills Park kicked off last week in Victoria’s beautiful Otways Ranges, made possible by a $2.1 million investment by the Labor Government and $250,000 from Colac Otway Shire Council.

Velosolutions Australia will build an asphalt pump track, skills park as well as two jump lines catering for both advanced and novice mountain bike riders.

A smaller second pump track, suitable for young children and adaptive riders, will also be upgraded.

The new trails will create one of Victoria’s best beginner and intermediate jump trail experiences and be a new challenge for riders of all abilities.

This project will add to the existing Forrest trail network, which is already one of Australia’s top mountain biking destinations with more than 80 kilometres of track across 17 trails.

Forrest Mountain Bike Trailhead and much of the southern network will be closed while works are completed.

During this time the Yaugher Network will stay open to visitors.

Stage One of the Forrest Mountain Bike Revitalisation Project is expected to be completed in early 2023.
