21 grassroots sport and active recreation organisations in Victoria’s south west are set to bolster their coaching skills, administration expertise, or score new sports equipment thanks to a funding boost from the Andrews Labor Government.
Labor Member for Western Victoria, Gayle Tierney today congratulated the successful applicants from the South West of the latest round of the Andrews Labor Government’s Sporting Club Grants Program.
Announced last week, the grants provide clubs up to $1,000 for new uniforms and equipment, up to $5,000 for training coaches, officials and volunteers, and up to $5,000 to improve club operational effectiveness.
Grant recipients in the South West include Warrnambool and District Cricket and Hockey Associations, as well as the Panmure Bulldogs Inc who each scored $5,000 to assist with their strategic planning and operational capacity development.

- Gorae-Portland, Nestles, Portland Colts, Russells Creek and Southern Titans Cricket Clubs
- Warrnambool Lawn Tennis Club
- City of Warrnambool Rowing Club
- Dennington Bowling Club
- Dennington, Westerns and Terang Mortlake Football Netball Clubs
- Gunditjmara Bulls Rugby Inc
- Port Fairy Little Athletics Inc
- Port Fairy Surf Lifesaving Club
- Warrnambool Roller Derby League Inc
- Warrnambool Table Tennis Association
- Glenelg Pony Club
- Warrnambool Weightlifting Club
The Program is part of the Andrews Labor Government’s commitment to make community sport more accessible and inclusive, stimulate local economies, build sustainable sport and recreation and volunteer opportunities, and increase local participation.
Since 2014, the program has injected more than $13.8 million to support clubs and last year provided a valuable funding lifeline to 611 clubs to help them through the pandemic.
